The Proform 1050e Elliptical Trainer is in the mid-price range. Like many others do nowadays it comes equipped with an adjustable ramp to increase intensity. The ramp on the Proform 1050E, however, is called the Super Ramp because at 10-40° it has a higher range than most of its kind.
The stride length on the Proform 1050E is adjustable from 19” to 24” and this goes back to the original point of choosing a machine that has the capacity to be used by all members of your family. As well as letting family members set the stride that suits them, adjusting stride length also targets different muscle groups in an individual.
There are 20 performance workouts in this machine, 2 calorie burn workouts and 20 resistance levels which are adjustable at the touch of a button.
To help the user get the most out of every workout there is also a heart rate monitor built into the handlebars. Training within a target heart rate is a very effective way to lose weight and stay healthy.
For those who would like a bit more interactivity or motivation during their workouts the Proform 1050E is compatible with iFit workout cards. Sold separately, these plugin to the console and offer a wide variety of workouts designed by certified personal trainers as well as hook ups to social networks like Facebook.
The backlit Grafixx console on the 1050E is large and easy to read and allows the user to track speed, distance pulse, calories and time.
Overall a good machine at a reasonable price, but there is one concern and that is that Proform offer a weak warranty. The frame is covered for life but parts and labor are only covered for one year. This is less than many similar machines on the market and might prompt a careful buyer to look at alternatives.
