The Proform 590 e Elliptical offers an adjustable incline to enable the user to target specific problem areas. Proform loves their trademark names and the name they have given the incline ramp is… Intensity Ramp™ ; Obviously a lot of thought went into that one. :) The more you ramp it up the more your butt will thank you for it.
So while you are ramping up the intensity what else can you be doing on the Proforma 590 e elliptical? Well, it comes with 14 high performance workout programs, 6 weight loss programs and a heart rate monitor to enable heart rate targeting during manual workouts. There are upper body workout arms which connect to the machine’s resistance and increase the cardio benefits and calorie burn.
The workout intensity can be adjusted manually on the large, well-lit console or the user can choose to work through the 14 pre-programmed workouts. These are of increasing intensity so are a good way to gradually build strength and stamina. It also comes with a music port for an iPod and a CoolAire™ (ahem)Workout Fan both of which are nice touches
Given that those who are in the market for a home fitness machine want to spend a considerable amount of time on it, any extra that makes working out more comfortable or more enjoyable is appreciated. Also built-in is (here comes another trademark) a port for the iFit® Workout Card although the cards are sold separately and you do not need to buy any cards at all to enjoy using the Proforma 590 E. Each iFit® Workout Card set has been designed by a certified personal trainer and there is one set specifically for elliptical machines that will talk you through 8 weeks of workouts at 3 different fitness levels.
If you really feel like beating yourself up, you can even purchase an 8 week body transformation program by Jillian Michaels of The Biggest Loser fame. Called ‘the toughest trainer in America’, Ms Michaels’ Lose Weight, Get Fit and Power Walking packs are not for the faint of heart. In comparison to Sole and LifeCORE Fitness, the Proform warranty is quite weak. Like the others it offers lifetime cover on the frame but only one year on parts and labor.
Given that these machines should be designed to withstand regular use over time, this doesn’t seem to be a particularly smart move on Proform’s part and it would be considered a deal-breaker by many canny shoppers (This one included). I suggest taking a serious look at extending the warranty that is offered on your way to checking on to purchase this machine.
